questions and answers-

1.What types of religious beliefs did the people in Ancient Egypt have? They belived in many gods and goddesses. For example, Horus the sky god, was a very important god to the Egyptians. Here are some facts about Horus:

Horus:             Apearence: has the head of a hawk and a body of a man      Other Names: Heru, Hor, Harendotes, Har-nedj-itef, Har-pa-neb-taui

Patron of: the living pharoh, rulers, law, war, young men, light, sun      Description: He has many forms, but his main description is that he is the prince of the gods and he is the patron of the living ruler      Worship: he was worshiped widely throughout Egypt and even his varient form were widespread

They also served pharohs because of one of their religious beliefs. This belief is that the pharohs were the son of Re, the son god and that they were gods on Earth. They believed in life after death, and they believed they needed spells memorized in the book of the dead to enter the after life. Some people who were wealthy were able to afford becoming mummies, a body that has been embalmed and wrapped in linen, when they die. Mostly Pharohs were mummies. This process is called mummification. When doing this, they first have to embalm the body, then they are treated with spices and oils

and also being wrapped in linnens. After they become a mummy, they are put in a pyramid. One of the largest pyramids id the Great Pyramid, built for King Khufu, located in the city of Cario

2.How did they celebrate thier religion? The Egyptions had many celebrations and ceremonies. Here are some of them:

The Festival of Choiak and Sokar: April 25-30   celebrated under importance of Osirs and Memphis

The Rebirth and celebration of Nehebkau:May 1   celebrated under death of Osirus and the rebirth of Horus

The Festival of the fertally god Min:date unknown   celebrated under the birth of Min

They ussually celebrate in a temple or pyramid when someone died

3.How is it similar and different from our religion?      Differences

-Egyptians believe in many gods and we believe in 1

-Egyptians bury people in pyramids and we bury in graves

-Egyptians had gods of certain objects and our God made everything

                                                                                     Similarities

-Both gods had a son Jesus and Horus

-Both have books of religion Bible and Book of the Dead

                                                                                     -Both have ceremonies upon gods

Girls, in class today we discussed how to find the vocabulary. When you are researching "Religion in Ancient Egypt" if you come across words that are difficult or that you have never heard of, define them. You need at least 8 words. =)

I love your picture... don't forget to label where it came from.

It's a great picture. Why don't you lable it and explain who it is and why you included it. I look forward to seeing what else you will add to your page.

Hello Team,
I was wondering if you've done your research yet. Did you write it down on paper instead of adding it to the wiki? If you are having trouble finding your information, please let me know if I can help.

Could you help me please. Is the idea of this project to research your topic and then use the information you find to write, in your own words, about your findings? Is the link you have at the top of this page just to let people know where you are getting your information from? I am just trying to understand better what is required. Thanks
